Toronto, ON – Toronto Police have laid a first-degree murder charge against Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah, 30 of Toronto for the murder of a young women (27). The young woman was found in the Weston Road and Eglinton Avenue area in Etobicoke Saturday.
Both the victim and the accused are reported to be of Ghanaian background.
Owusu-Ansah was arrested at a gas station in Mississauga Saturday morning, hours after the police found the victim.
He appeared in court Sunday afternoon. An autopsy to determine the cause of death is also scheduled for Sunday afternoon. Police have not released any details regarding the death, other than to say that there were “obvious signs of trauma.”
While the identity of the woman has not been released by police, family and friends have identified the woman to local media as Bridget, and said that she was a mother of two.
