Benyam, Going Beyond!Published Posted on | By TZTA News
Local 1996 would like to thank Benyam for his efforts in helping with an emergency situation during his shift on April 16, 2013.
Benyam was pulled over to the side of the road working on his laptop when he spotted an unknown man falling to the ground in an attempt to collect his mail. The fallen man proceeded to convulse and shake, prompting Benyam to get out of his vehicle and hurry to the victim’s aid. When the man did not respond, Benyam moved quickly to maneuver him out of harm’s way before the man could fall down the front porch steps. Once the man was safe, Benyam called for a passerby to come and help so he could dial 911. With all the commotion, the man’s wife appeared inquiring what had happened. She claimed that her husband must have had a seizure. Benyam waited until the ambulance arrived so he could pass along any valuable information to the paramedics. Thankfully they were able to stabilize the man and get his seizure under control.
We are grateful that Benyam acted so swiftly and took charge of the situation. He should be proud of his actions as Local 1996 certainly is. His courage and calmness in the heat of the moment will not be forgotten. Thank you once again Benyam! We are proud to have you as a member of Local 1996 and are pleased to have nominated you for a Merit Award.
