Homicide detectives are investigating after a lifeless body was found on a residential street in Etobicoke Saturday morning.
Toronto police were called to Richgrove Dr., near Eglinton Ave. and Martin Grove Rd., around 7:30 a.m. There they found a deceased female in her mid-20s sprawled on the street.
Paramedics did not transport the body from the scene and a coroner is currently investigating.
“There are obvious signs of trauma to the victim,” said Insp. Tim Crone.
Police have arrested a “person of interest” in connection with the death, but will not confirm the charges.
Crone said the person in custody was apprehended at a gas station in Mississauga.
“We are still dealing with that individual and trying to piece together the circumstances that led us here today,” said Crone.
Police are currently investigating two other locations they believe play into the history of the crime scene at Richgrove Dr.
“Usually this street is quiet,” said resident Tham Vasudevan, who has lived in the area for 12 years. “But there is a building at the end of the street where criminal activity is most likely happening. People have been talking about drug deals going on there.”
